America Saves Week

Since 2007 America Saves Week has been an annual celebration and call to action for everyday Americans to commit to saving successfully. KPCU is proud to participate in this week! Each day has its own theme and resources that touch on important areas of saving and financial wellness.

Monday, April 7 – Saving Automatically

Saving is a habit, not a destination. A great place to start is to set up automatic savings. When you are saving a dedicated amount of money every week, month, or another regular interval, you can begin to feel a sense of control over your saving habits! Check out this decision tree to help you start your savings. You can also learn more about saving automatically here.

Tuesday, April 8 – Saving for the Unexpected

It happens to all of us: you’re saving for something that you’re really excited about and before you know it an unexpected event occurs, causing you to dip into your designated savings. It’s important to have a plan in place for handling these events. Learn more here.

Wednesday, April 9 – Saving for Major Milestones

It’s no doubt that saving for competing priorities (like homeownership, retirement, and education) can feel overwhelming! Even with the most thought out plan, life can cause us to fall off track with our finances from time to time. Check out this Goal Setting Worksheet to help you prioritize! You can also learn more here.

Thursday, April 10 – Paying Down Debt is Saving

Debt can feel like a heavy burden, but the good news is that paying it down is a powerful step toward transforming your financial future. Just like having a plan for savings is important, so is having a plan for reducing your debt. Check out this Debt Prioritization Worksheet to help you build a strategy for eliminating debt. You can also learn more about how paying down debt can transform your finances!

Friday, April 11 – Saving at Any Age

Talking about money and finances as a family is extremely important! On the last day of #AmericaSavesWeek, we encourage you to talk to your family members – from kids to older generations – about your money story, goals, the importance of saving, and using credit wisely. You can also use this Creating Family Savings Goals flyer with your family. Here are some additional tips!
