One of the best parts of summer is taking a trip to somewhere new with the family. However, travel can amplify your chances of financial trouble because you’re out of your usual routine, potentially more distracted, and operating in less secure or familiar systems. Scammers and criminals love to exploit these vulnerabilities. Here’s how to protect yourself when traveling this summer.
Use KPCU Credit & Debit Cards While Traveling
We recommend carrying as little cash as possible and using your KPCU credit or debit cards instead. These cards come with fraud protection services and real-time fraud monitoring. If suspicious activity is detected, transactions are blocked until their validity can be confirmed with the member. It is also important to notify KPCU before traveling out of the area to prevent your transactions from being blocked for fraud.
Manage Your Cards Remotely
Through our debit card management system, you can manage your cards remotely through Online Banking or the KPCU Mobile App. If you suspect fraud or misplace your card, you can freeze/unfreeze your card or transactions. You can also set spending alerts to notify you of any expenses made on your card. You can even report your card lost or stolen – all from your mobile device.
